Preparing media items for playout

The template stores settings for a group of asset properties; for example, the aspect ratio of a

video clip. It applies these settings to any asset to which it is assigned – so removing the need

for you to set the properties individually.
After the asset template has set the properties for an asset, you may change them by using the

features on the Asset layout.
An asset template is assigned to an asset during ingest.

When you import a media file through the Media Store Inbox, the Media Watcher assigns a

default asset template to the asset it creates.

If you want the Media Watcher to assign a different template to an asset, you may place

the media file in an Inbox sub-folder that has the same name (with the characters in the

same case) as an asset template. The Media Watcher then uses this template for the asset.

When you use an Encode Server to record media onto the Media Store, you select an asset

template in the Encode Settings dialog.

A number of default templates for different asset types are created in the System Database

when the system is installed. These include the DefaultHD template for HD video clips and the

DefaultSD template for SD video clips.
On the Asset layout, you can change the settings in any asset template. You can create asset

templates based any of the default ones, or on other asset templates.

Create or modify an asset template

1.

Use PinPoint on the Asset layout to find a list of asset templates.

2.

Select one of these to display its properties in the Property Editor.

3.

Modify any properties you want to.

4.

Do one of the following to save your changes.

Click Save to overwrite the original asset template.

Click Save As to create a new asset template.
