Link Aggregation Commands

13

Example

The following example creates trunk 1 and then adds port 10:

Console(config)#interface port-channel 1

Console(config-if)#exit

Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/10

Console(config-if)#channel-group 1

Console(config-if)#

lacp

This command enables 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) for the current interface.
Use the no form to disable it.

Syntax

[no] lacp

Default Setting

Disabled

Command Mode

Interface Configuration (Ethernet)

Command Usage

The ports on both ends of an LACP trunk must be configured for full duplex, either by forced
mode or auto-negotiation.

A trunk formed with another switch using LACP will automatically be assigned the next
available port-channel ID.

If the target switch has also enabled LACP on the connected ports, the trunk will be activated
automatically.

If more than eight ports attached to the same target switch have LACP enabled, the additional
ports will be placed in standby mode, and will only be enabled if one of the active links fails.

Example

The following shows LACP enabled on ports 1-3. Because LACP has also been enabled on the ports
at the other end of the links, the

show interfaces status port-channel 1

command shows that

Trunk1 has been established.

Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/1

Console(config-if)#lacp

Console(config-if)#interface ethernet 1/2

Console(config-if)#lacp

Console(config-if)#interface ethernet 1/3

Console(config-if)#lacp

Console(config-if)#end

Console#show interfaces status port-channel 1
