Detailed
Description

A physical disk assigned as a hot spare was unassigned and is no longer functioning as a hot
spare. The physical disk was unassigned by a user or automatically unassigned by Storage
Management. Storage Management unassigns hot spares were used to rebuild data. Once the
data is rebuilt onto the hot spare, the hot spare becomes a member of the virtual disk and is no
longer assigned as a hot spare. Assign a new hot spare to maintain data protection in this
situation.

Recommended
Response Action

Although this alert is provided for informational purposes, you may need to assign a new hot
spare to the virtual disk. See Protecting Your Virtual Disk with a Hot Spare for more
information.

Detailed
Description

A disk on the specified controller has received a SMART alert (predictive failure) indicating
that the disk is likely to fail in the near future.

Recommended
Response Action

Replace the disk that has received the SMART alert. If the physical disk is a member of a non-
redundant virtual disk, then back up the data before replacing the disk. Removing a physical
disk that is included in a non-redundant virtual disk causes the virtual disk to fail and may
cause data loss.
