CAUTION

All unknown samples should first be collected with the
Survey Method to avoid saturating the GC. The Survey
Method allows the operator to gain knowledge of how far
away to hold the probe from the sample and if a
Concentrator needs to be used.

The sampling procedure for an Analyze (GC/MS) method is dependent on the
HAPSITE configuration. For information on running Sample Loop, Concentrator,
HSS and/ or SituProbe samples, see either

Chapter 3

for information on running

them from the Front Panel or

Chapter 5

for information on running them from the

Laptop.

6.3.1 Building an Analyze (GC/MS) Method and

Target Compound Library File

Collection of Analyze (GC/MS) data is controlled by the method. Analyze (GC/MS)
methods are generated or modified using the Method Editor. The Method Editor is
covered in detail in

Chapter 11, Method Editor

. The target compound library is built

using the Calibrate Function. The calibrate function is described in detail in

Chapter

12, Target Compound Methods

.
