In example (B), the feature image contains fewer sharply defined edges. The
edge pixels in this image will cause minimal matching errors, usually not
enough to require masking. In this case, masking can be disabled.

Note in Figure 6.29 (page 6–34) that masking is disabled by default. When
masking is enabled, the
button becomes active. When you pick
the button, the Thresh/Filter adjustment panel appears, as shown
in Figure 6.31.
