Inspection Tools

7–185

In this example, the object of the inspection is to inspect the front and back
labels of a package for correct positioning, using two cameras. The
assumption is that the inspected package can be oriented with either label
facing either camera; thus, the inspection must correctly identify the front
and back labels, and then apply the correct set of measurement tools to those
labels, regardless of the package’s orientation.

The window tool, “

Circ/NoCirc

,” acquires its image from

C1

(camera #1). It

is configured for the

Black Contours

operation and looks for a black

contour that is present only on the front label. If it finds the black contour, as
shown by (A) in Figure 7.149, the window tool “passes” its inspection and,
in effect, “detects” the front label.

No black object

If it does not find the black contour, as shown by (B) in Figure 7.149, the
window tool “fails” its inspection and, in effect, “detects” the back label.

Note that in this example, the “pass” and “fail” conditions for the

Circ/NoCirc

” window tool are based on its high and low range limits both

being set to “1.” Thus, if the result is “1,” the window tool “passes”; if the
result is “0,” the window tool “fails.”
