Luminance
The luminance window operation calculates the average luminance, or gray
scale value, of all the pixels within the window. The average is based on gray
scale values ranging from 0 to 255, where 0 is the darkest value, and 255 is
the brightest value.
Refer to Table 7.2 (page 7–32) for shape restrictions when using the
luminance operation.
Figure 7.46 illustrates the luminance operation. In this example, the
“nominal” average luminance is 169.084.
