” direction was selected for the pin connector in this example
because it is the appropriate choice for “profiling” the connector pins, which
are arrayed along the X axis. If the “

” direction had been selected instead,
the profile display would appear as illustrated in Figure 7.123.

In this case, since the profile display is a graphic depiction of the average
gray scale value of each row of pixels within the profile window, it provides
no useful basis for measuring any of the features on the pin connector.
