Note that the

Environment

panel contains several “buttons.” Here is a brief

description of their functions:

Add –– Use the

button to add new variables.

Delete –– Use the

button to delete the highlighted variables file.

Edit –– Use the

button to edit the highlighted variables file.

Archive –– Use the

button to archive the highlighted variables

file in a specified device.

Restore –– Use the

button to restore a previously archived

variables file.

Done –– Use the

button to exit to the main menu bar.

The example in Figure 10.4 illustrates a list of system variables, whose
settings and parameters affect the overall operation of the CVIM2 system.

Some variables can be set by utilities outside this menu. In particular, the

porta=x . . .

” items show the parameters set under the RS–232 serial port

panels (see RS–232 Serial Port Setup following this section); and, the

cfg=xx:<filename>

” item is the configuration file selected in the

Config

Files

panel (see Configuration File Selection, page 10–2). For a complete

list of user–selectable environment variables, refer to Appendix B.

Editing Variables

NOTE: It is normally not necessary to edit the variables in the

Environment

panel.

The general procedure for editing a variable is to pick (highlight) the
variable, then pick the

button. When you do, the keyboard appears,

as shown in Figure 10.5.
