Archiving Variables

The

Archive

function enables you to save the entire list of variables in the

Environment

panel to a separate file for the purpose of transferring the

environment to another CVIM2 system (or for use as backup in case of
hardware failure).

When you pick the

button, the “

Save as . . .

” panel appears, as

shown in Figure 10.8. Initially, the panel is empty, as shown.

To archive the current list of environment variables, pick the

button.

When you do, a keyboard appears. Enter an appropriate name for the archive
file, (such as

MC:Archive1

in Figure 10.8). (Note the message in the

keyboard title bar indicating that the default device is

EE:

. If you want to

change the device, enter the new device name ahead of the archive file
name.)

After entering the archive file name, pick the

key on the keyboard.

When you do, the keyboard disappears and the “

Save as . . .

” panel returns

with the archive file name listed, as shown in Figure 10.9 (page 10–8).
