Inspection Tools
7–132
For example, the formula “
var(5,8,10)
” will be calculated as follows:
1. Compute the average value of the list:
5 + 8 + 10 = 23
23
B 3 = 7.667
2. Subtract the average value from each value in the list:
5
* 7.667 = *2.667
8
* 7.667 = 0.333
10
* 7.667 = 2.333
3. Square each of the differences:
*2.667 *2.667 = 7.113
0.333
0.333 = 0.111
2.333
2.333 = 5.443
4. Compute the average value of the squared differences:
7.113 + 0.111 + 5.443 = 12.667
12.667
B 3 = 4.222
Thus, the variance in this example is 4.222.
*Each of the statistics functions can perform “list” processing on inspection
tools that produce multiple results, such as a window tool performing a black
contour operation. For details of the list processing function, refer to the
Example: List Processing section on page 7–141.
Miscellaneous Functions
When you pick the
key, the
Misc Functions
panel appears, as shown
by the example in Figure 7.101.
