The

Morph Passes

parameter determines the number of times the image is

passed through the image processing “pipeline”; that is, the number of times
that the morphology processors are applied to the image.

The following example (shown in Figure 7.80 through Figure 7.83)
illustrates the use of gray scale morphology and multiple “morph passes” to
eliminate progressively thicker horizontal (unwanted) features without
significantly affecting vertical features. For the sake of simplicity, the
example uses a transform operation and a rectangle shape.

Each “morph pass” in this example represents two stages of gray scale
morphology processing. Both of these stages perform a “MAX” with the
following morphology kernel:
