Note that all variable names are case–sensitive. Enter the appropriate changes
to the variable, then pick the

button. When you do, the keyboard

disappears and the changed variable appears in the

Environment

panel.

NOTE: An edited variable may not become effective immediately; usually,
you must cycle the power to the CVIM2 module in order to activate the
changed value.

Adding Variables

The

Add

function enables you to add variables that can alter or “customize”

the CVIM2 system’s performance in important and useful ways. Refer to
Appendix B for a complete list and description of the user configurable
environment variables.

To add a variable, the first step is to pick the

button in the

Environment

panel. When you do, the keyboard appears, as illustrated by

Figure 10.6 (Part 1).

The second step is to enter the environment variable name, the equal sign
(=), and the parameter(s) on the keyboard, then pick the

key. When

you do, the keyboard disappears and the new variable appears in the

Environment

panel, as illustrated by Figure 10.7 (Part 2).

Figure 10.7 uses the “

ramdevsize

” variable as an example of a user

configurable environment variable. This variable can be used to change the
size of the

RM:

device for temporary storage of files. (Since the

RM:

device

is volatile, files stored there will be lost whenever the CVIM2 module is
powered down.)
