Here is a brief description of the three fields in the

Discrete Outputs

panel:

Outputs –– The two selections in this field are

Enabled

and

Disabled

.

Enabled

” allows the discrete outputs to become active during online

operations, and to reflect the results of inspections. “

Disabled

” causes all

outputs (except the designated

Strobe

outputs) to remain inactive during

online operations.

Forces –– The two selections in this field are

Enabled

and

Disabled

.

Enabled

” allows all discrete outputs that are configured with a “

Force

selection of “

On

” or “

Off

” to reflect the

Force

selection during online

operations. “

Disabled

” prevents the

Force

selections from operating.

Note that if “

Disabled

” is selected in the

Outputs

field, the selection in

the

Forces

field has no effect.

PLC Test –– The two status conditions displayed in this field are

On

and

Off

. When the “

On

” status is displayed, all discrete outputs are disabled

(except the designated Strobe outputs) regardless of the selection in the

Outputs

field. When the “

Off

” status is displayed, the outputs are subject

to the selections in the

Outputs

and

Forces

fields.

The “

On

” status will appear only when an Allen–Bradley programmable

logic controller (PLC

) is connected to the

Remote I/O

port and the

PLC is set to the “test” or “program” mode.

NOTE: The “

Off

” status can be restored only when the PLC reports that

its has returned to the “run” mode. If communications with the PLC are
disrupted after the PLC has set the “

On

” status, the “

Off

” status can be

restored only by cycling the power to the CVIM2 module.
