Software limit positions, limitation of the travel range

The software limit positions are set with C3040 (positive software limit position) and
C3041 (negative software limit position) in the parameter menu under Positioning

W

Homing.

ƒ

The software limit positions refer to the zero position.

ƒ

Depending on the setting of the machine parameters, it may occur that the software
limit positions entered in C3040/C3041 in units cannot be displayed in internal
increments anymore. In this case, an internal limitation of the maximally
displayable value is made automatically and the warning 2424
("SWLimOutOfRange") is output. The currently effective values of the positive and
negative software limit positions are displayed in C4240/C4241.

ƒ

Consider an appropriate back−up distance when selecting the software limit
positions which ensures that the software limit positions will not be reached even in
case of slight variations of the actual position values in correct positioning
processes.

ƒ

The acceptance of new settings in C3034/C3041 requires a status change to
"Stand−by"!

ƒ

The value for the positive software limit position must be greater than the value for
the negative software limit position (C3040 > C3041). Otherwise FAIL−QSP (fault
number 3417, "InvSftwLimits") is activated and the drive changes to "Trouble".

ƒ

If the home position is known in the "Continuous constant travel" mode
(C3095/x = 2) and if a software limit position is reached, FAIL−QSP is activated:
– Fault no. 3402, "PosPosLimit"
– Fault no. 3403, "NegPosLimit"
(For manual jog (inching mode) instead of FAIL−QSP a corresponding warning (fault no.
2402, 2403) is actuated.)

ƒ

If the software limit positions are overtravelled, status bit Stat2.SWLimErr is set to 1
in C4046.
