VLAN Table (Edit) (with optional Packet Processor INSTALLED)

This section displays the current VLAN ID entries and, when more than one VLAN Entry exists,

allows you to directly edit the selected VLAN ID entry:

Column

Description

Index

This is the internal table index that is automatically assigned and cannot be edited.

ID

This is the valid ID that you have assigned to this specific entry (from 0001 to 4094).

Name

This is the unique name that you

assigned to this specific entry.

Tag

This column identifies the VLAN ID as Native, Management, or Tagged.

The Native VLAN ID is used to tag arriving packets that have no VLAN tag. Likewise,

when packets arrive from the WAN with the same VLAN tag as the Native VLAN ID, then

the VLAN header is removed and passed to the LAN interface.

The Management VLAN ID is used to specify a dedicated management VLAN used to

access and control the modems.

Priority

The Packet Processor classifies each packet that is to be forwarded over the satellite; the

packet then has a Priority assigned according to the defined QoS Rules:

Assign a Priority Level from 0 to 7 for each flow:

Any latency critical traffic such as VoIP/RTP should always be assigned Priority 1;

Priority 1 packets are forwarded immediately; Priority 2 packets are forwarded as soon as

there are no Priority 1 packets in the Queue; and so on;

Any packet that does not meet a QoS Rule is assigned to the Default Rule, and is

assigned Priority 9.
