D.2.3.1 Telnet CLI Operation Quick Reference

The CLI operates under a hierarchy of Configuration and Information functions. You may access

any nested configuration or information page (e.g., Administration, Route Table, etc.) from this

top-level menu by typing an available “Hot Key”, commonly provided at the right side of the

screen.

Common Interface Options/Fields – The bottom of each primary and nested page provides

three menu functions are that are typical throughout the CLI:

Selection

Hot Key Description

Save Parameters to permanent

storage

S

Saves the current configuration of the Packet Processor to

permanent storage. This configuration is restored on each

successive power cycle.

Exit

X

Exits the current menu and returns to the parent menu. You may

alternately press the Esc key to perform the same action.

Telnet Logout

L

Exits the CLI and closes the terminal emulator application.

M&C is accomplished as follows:

Selection – This is the function or command as it appears on the menu page.

Hot Key – This is the letter or number assigned as the keystroke/mnemonic for execution of

a menu function or command. Where this column specifies [RO], this means that this line

item is a read-only (informational) feature. No user input is available.

Description – This is the detailed explanation of the function or command. You are

instructed to take a specific action here:

o When you are instructed to “set” a feature, this means that you are prompted to type

the numerical value for that feature. Press [Enter] to execute configuration. User

guidance to “set” a value within a permitted ranges (from a minimum value to a

maximum value) is commonly provided in parentheses or brackets.

o When you are instructed to “select” a feature, this means that a numbered list of

choices is commonly provided. Type the number to execute your operational selection.

Press [Enter] to execute configuration.

o When you are instructed to “toggle” a feature, this generally means that pressing the

Hot Key executes one of two operating states for that feature (e.g., Enabled or Disabled,

On or Off, Auto or Manual, etc.). The feature line will dynamically update to display, in

brackets, its updated and current operating state.

D.2.4

Restoring Factory Default Configuration

The configuration procedures provided in this chapter assume that the CDM-IP is still in factory

default configuration for IP. If this is not the case, the factory default configuration can be

restored from the CLI menu.
