ENABLE AUTHENTICATION

Syntax

enable authentication

Parameters

None.

Description

This command enables TACACS+ or RADIUS manager account
authentication on a switch or stack. After you enable manager
authentication, you must use the manager accounts you defined on the
TACACS+ or RADIUS server to manage the device. To select an
authenticator protocol, refer to “SET AUTHENTICATION” on page 893.

Note

If you are using the RADIUS authentication protocol for 802.1x Port-
based Network Access Control but not for manager account
authentication, you do not need to use this command. Even when
the RADIUS manager account feature is disabled, the switch still
has access to the RADIUS configuration information for 802.1x port-
based access control.

Example

The following command enables manager account authentication:

enable authentication
