7. Set the Byte Order
In the Project pane, expand the Modules folder, double-click the CPU module, and
choose PROFINET. In the Data Encoding section, make sure the Byte Order is
set to MSB First.
Creating the PROFINET Connection in the S7
After the RMC has been set up using RMCTools, the STEP 7 software is used to configure
the PROFINET network for the S7 PLC. These steps describe using STEP 7 V5.5 with the
S7 CPU 315-2 PN/DP as the IO controller.
1. Start STEP 7 and open the project to which you will add an RMC to the PROFINET
network. Open the Hardware configuration. It is assumed that you have a PROFINET
network created, which may or may not have other devices on it, as shown below:
2. If the RMC75E and/or RMC150E GSD files have not yet been added to the hardware
catalog, then use the following steps to add them:
a. On the Options menu, click Install GSD File:
b. In the Install GSD Files window, browse to the PROFINET folder under the
RMCTools install directory, and select the version 2.2 GSD files for the RMC75E
and RMC150E, as shown below. If your version of STEP 7 does not accept the
V2.2 GSD files, then you may have to use the V2.1 or V2.0 versions.
