Fabric Binding overview

The fabric binding feature enables you to configure whether switches can merge with a selected
fabric. This provides security from accidental fabric merges and potential fabric disruption when
fabrics become segmented because they cannot merge.

Enabling Fabric Binding activates Switch Connection Control (SCC) policy and sets Fabric Wide
Consistency Policy (FWCP) and insistent domain ID. Disabling Fabric Binding on Fabric OS devices
deletes SCC policy and sets FWCP to absent.

NOTE

In a pure Fabric OS fabric, enabling insistent domain ID is mandatory.

Viewing fabric binding membership

1. Select Configure > Fabric Binding.
