SAT 3C ( OE454) - Figure I-5 (SS5004)

The new SAT 3C controller is an advanced product replacement
for the older SAT 2C controller which WattMaster Controls has
sold for many years. The SAT 3C controller is 2/3 size of the older
SAT 2C controller. This size change was done to reduce the overall
footprint so that more controllers can fi t into a panel. The SAT 3C
controller is a drop-in functional replacement for the older SAT 2C
controller, but the SAT 3C’s use requires that the WCC II front-end
computer be replaced with a WCC III – MCD. The SAT 3C is a
version of the satellite controller that allows the WCC III - MCD
to communicate with remote mounted Air Handling Unit or Roof
Top Unit types of controllers called RTU-17 controllers. An RTU
-17 is a microprocessor-based device that can be used to control
Air Handling Units or Roof Top Units. The RTU-17 can be used as
a stand-alone controller or can be used with the WCC III system.

The SAT 3C controller is basically an interface converter between
the application-specifi c software that is written for the RTU-17
controller (some TUC-5Rs) and the SAT III controller software
control structure. These inputs and outputs on the RTU-17s (some
TUC-5Rs) are “shoe horned” into the standard SAT III control
structure with the use of the SAT 3C controller. When viewing or
changing the setup and operation of the application-specifi c RTU-
17 controller (some TUC-5Rs), you must use the SCUSCR.EXE
program to program and administer changes to these application-
specifi c RTU-17 controllers. (Some TUC-5Rs) On the WCC III
Satellite software control structure, the SAT 3C uses or takes the
place of 8 SAT III controllers starting with address #8.

See Section 15 for specifi c use and application of the SAT 3C
controller.

The SAT 3C controller has 8 status lights. The functions of these
lights or LEDs are listed below.

SAT REC

- This LED will be lit when communications

are being received by the SAT 3C Controller.

SAT XMIT

- This LED will be lit when communications

are being transmitted by the SAT 3C Controller.

TUC REC

- This LED will be lit when communications

are being received from the TUC Communications
Loop.

TUC XMIT

- This LED will be lit when communications

are being transmitted to the TUC Communications
Loop.

LOCAL SET

- This LED will be lit when there are

currently no communications with the WCC III -
MCD and no communications have occurred in at
least the last 2 minutes. This means that this SAT 3C
communications loop is not communicating with the
WCC III - MCD. All setpoint control is then dependent
on the LOCAL SET parameters programmed into the
SAT3 controller.

STATUS

- This LED blinks every second if SAT 3C is

alive.

“C” MODE

- This LED will be lit if this Controller is

programmed as a SAT 3C and blinks for every internal
calculation loop completion.

“D” MODE

- This LED blinks for every second during

power on delay and blinks every 8 seconds when
watchdog is enabled.
