WCC III M-Comm Board (SS5007)

The WCC III M-Comm Board is located inside of the WCC III -
MCD case to provide two standard connection points for the RS-485
communications loop. Each one of these RS-485 communications
loop connections can communicate with up to 60 SAT III
Controllers at distances of up to 4000 feet away from the WCC
III - MCD.

To increase the number of RS-485 communications loop
connections that the WCC III - MCD can have, you must use
the WCC III M-Comm Loop Expansion Board. The WCC III
M-Comm Loop Expansion Board provides for two additional RS-
485 communications loops connections.

This WCC III M-Comm Board is a communications processor
board. It uses a USB 2.0 connection for data transfer to the
computer for the communication interface. The BackTask.exe
program communicates to this board directly via the USB 2.0
connection. This is where the proprietary RS-485 communication
packetized data that is sent and received through this board is
actually packetized and unpacketized.

This WCC III M-Comm Board also serves as a connection point
for the WCC III - MCD shutdown feature. The PCI buss connector
is only used to obtain power (+5VDC and Ground) for this WCC
III M-Comm Board.

The WCC III M-Comm Board has 5 status lights. The functions of
these lights or LEDs are listed below.

COMM 1

- This LED will be lit when SAT

communications are being received by the WCC III
M-Comm Board on loop 1.

COMM 2

- This LED will be lit when SAT

communications are being received by the WCC III
M-Comm Board on loop 2.

URX

- This LED will be lit when there are any USB

communications being received by the WCC III
M-Comm board from the WCC III - MCD CPU Board.

UTX

- This LED will be lit when there are any USB

communications being transmitted by the WCC III
M-Comm Board to the WCC III - MCD CPU Board.

D5

- This LED is lit when the WCC III M-Comm Board

resets the WCC III – MCD CPU Board. This command
could come from the power switch on the front of the
WCC III - MCD CPU Board via the WCC III Shutdown
Board or from the MComm Board detection that the
Backtask program is not currently running.
