Cleaning the Sample Path with Glutaraldehyde

Materials required:

S glutaraldehyde
S aspiration adapter
S lint-free tissue or swabs
S test/blank reference sensor (TB5)
S test/blank glucose sensor (TB4)
S test/blank lactate sensor (TB4)

Bayer Diagnostics recommends using Cidex

, a 2% activated glutaraldehyde

solution, to discourage microbial growth in the sample path.

CAUTION:

Do not use alcohol to perform this procedure. Alcohol can damage the

sensors.

WARNING

When handling glutaraldehyde, follow appropriate chemical safety

guidelines, which include wearing safety glasses, gloves, and laboratory coat.

Prepare the glutaraldehyde solution according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.

CAUTION:ĄĂ

Do not remove or return the sensors to the measurement module

without first discharging static buildup. Touch the inner surface of the module
frame to discharge static buildup.
