tiamo 2.2 (ProcessLab)

Password monitoring by Windows

If this option is enabled then the password will be monitored according to
the parameters defined in Windows. In this case the parameters for pass-
word protection are deactivated.

Default value

off
FDA default: off

Caution

When using password monitoring through Windows, to avoid an unwan-
ted login by the standard defined user Guest in Windows, this must also
either be provided with a password or (preferably) be deactivated.

Caution

If this option is enabled, the user name in Windows and tiamo must
correspond with each other otherwise the user in tiamo cannot log in
any more. In order to ensure this, the dialog window Test Login (see
Chapter 6.2.2.3, page 1237)
appears after this option has been selected
in which the logged-in user must register with his or her Windows pass-
word. If this test login fails, then the Security settings dialog window
will remain open.

Note

With Windows 2000, proceed as follows for password monitoring by
Windows:

1.

Run/Execute "secpol.msc".

2.

Under "Local Policies/User Rights Assignment", switch on the guide-
line "Act as part of the operating system" for all desired user groups.

3.

Restart computer.

Maximum number of login attempts

If this check box is activated then a user will be given the status deacti-
vated
as soon as the number of login attempts defined here has been
exceeded. A user with the status deactivated can no longer start the pro-
gram. The counter for login attempts is reset to zero for all users at each
new start.
