DHCP Server Configuration

1. Install the following RPMs in the server if not installed:

dhcpv6-client-1.0.10-18.el5

dhcp-devel-3.0.5-23.el5

dhcp-3.0.5-23.el5

2. Make the following entry in /etc/dhcpd.conf file:

ddns-update-style interim;

subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {

range 192.168.1.50 192.168.1.90;

option domain-name “pxe_text”;

option time-offset -8;

host bglinux45{

next-server 192.168.1.1;

hardware ethernet 00:00:C9:5B:75:A8;

###This sets up a DNS server that will assign IP Address 192.168.1.60

###to the client machine that has MAC Address “00:00:C9:5B:75:A8”

###assigned to a PXE capable NIC

###The only thing that needs to be changed in the above, is the MAC

###Address to match that of the NIC in the client box

###The IP address that follows the next-server option should be the IP

###address of the tftp server
