Creating a Level Set
Control Panel Viewing
Control panel operators see only virtual levels, never physical levels. Virtual levels in a level set are
ordered according to sequence number. The lowest number in the sequence is called the primary
level. The primary level is typically an HD or SD video level. Some control panels cannot display
all members of a level set. In those instances, the primary level is used to represent the entire set
and show breakaway status on level buttons.
For control panels that display multiple levels (e.g., the NV9601), it is the sequence number that
determines the order in which levels are displayed (called a “display index”). Refer to the control
panel documentation for specific displays for your control panel.
Creating a Level Set
A level set can be created at any time. NV9000-SE saves all configuration changes to the database.
Once changes are saved, there is no “undo” function; the configuration is permanently altered. To
implement configuration changes, the configuration must be written to the system controller. For
instructions, see
Implementing Configuration Changes
Before creating a level set, physical levels must have been previously added to NV9000-SE. Physi-
cal levels are specific to a physical crosspoint matrix in a particular router, with each physical level
representing a single signal type. Virtual levels within a level set map to these physical levels. If the
physical levels have not been added, there is nothing for the virtual levels, and the resulting level
set, to map to. For information on adding physical levels, see
Updating Router Physical Levels
When you have finished creating a level set, the list of virtual levels should encompass all signal
types in your facility.
Level sets can be added using a wizard, page or table. Each performs specific tasks:
• ‘Add Level Set’ wizard (accessed through the ‘Tasks’ pane)
—
A step-by-step guide to create a
single level set. Opens the ‘Level Set Details’ page through which level sets are defined.
• ‘Level Sets’ page (accessed through the ‘Configuration’ pane)
—
A list of existing level sets
through which the ‘Level Set Details’ page can be accessed and a new level set defined.
• ‘Level Sets’ table (accessed through the ‘Views’ pane)
—
A list of existing level sets, one per
row, with name and ID. A level set name can be added using this table, but no virtual levels that
compose the level set can be added. That must be done through the ‘Level Set Details’ page
accessed through ‘Level Sets’ page.
To quickly add several level sets, the name of each level set being added can be entered in the ‘Add
Level Set’ wizard and then the
Finish
button pressed. This adds the level set name and clears all
fields so that another level set can be added immediately. However, no virtual levels are defined.
Details for the level set can be added a later date using the ‘Level Sets’ page accessed through the
‘Configuration’ pane.
Note
Control panel operators see only virtual levels, never physical levels.
