9. Devices
Adding a Device
Example: The system connects to monitor number 1 (MON 1) on output ports 263 and 1 (SDI),
and output ports 25, 26, 27, and 28 (AES). Other monitors in the set connect similarly. Ports
263–268, and 1–6 are ports on an SDI router, and ports 25–48 are ports on an AES router.
Seemingly identical port ranges are actually distinct if they apply to different routers. This
example could have started the AES range at 1 and no conflict would have occurred because
SD connector 1 is on a different router.
6 In the ‘Select Categories for New Devices’ section, select categories for the devices using the
fields provided. (See Figure 9-4.) For more information on categories, see

to save the new device information to the system.
Or
Start
Enter connector numbers in the ‘Input’ and ‘Output’ fields, as appropriate. The number
is the number of the physical port where the cable connects from the device to the
router.
Source devices are connected to router inputs; destination devices are connected to
router outputs. Some devices have both inputs and outputs, in which case an entry
appears in both columns.
For example, if adding monitors, the HD connectors start at 263, the SD connectors
start at 1, and the four AES levels start at 25, 26, 27, and 28.
Increment
NV9000-SE uses the values in the ‘Input’ and ‘Output’ columns to generate a complete
set of connector numbers for the device range specified. The increment values are
added to the values entered in the ‘Start’ column.
For example, if adding monitors as described in the ‘Start’ example, the increment for
the HD and SD levels is 1. However, because the AES levels occur in groups of 4, the
increment must be 4, for each AES level.
The increment for the unused control level is immaterial.
