Source Preview

The Source Preview button (default legend

Src Preview

) only pertains to the NV9607 control panel.

This button can be used on a NV9606 control panel but only when it is used as a “slave” (con-
trolled) to a NV9607 control panel (controlling). The

Src Preview

button places the control panel in

a mode that enables the operator can discover what source device is assigned to a specific button
without performing a “take”.

Take

Pressing

Take

executes the currently selected route. How a “take” is performed and occurs differs

depending on whether you are in X-Y mode or MD mode.

In X-Y mode an operator can route one set of preset sources to one destination. X-Y mode allows
the operator to select a source and destination is any order, but the destination device determines
the valid levels and the resulting preset sources that may be included in the “take.” A “take” can
only occur if the destination and source devices are members of the same level set. (See

About Lev-

els and Level Sets

on page 112.) For example, if a destination device is a member of the HD level

set only and the source device is a member of the SD level set only, the two cannot be routed. How-
ever, if the destination device is a member of the HD level and SD level, then the routing can occur.
One exception is if the two levels have been mapped. (See

Level Mapping

on page 362.)

The “take” occurs for all valid levels. To route only to specific levels and not all valid levels, per-
form a breakaway. See

About Breakaways

on page 359.

In MD mode the operator can route one or more sources to one or more destinations. Unlike X-Y
mode that allows the operator to select a source and destination is any order, in MD mode the desti-
nation must be selected prior to selecting the source.

X-Y Display

Only available on control panels with LCD display: NV9640 and NV9642, this button shows the
status of the currently selected “take,” before the “take” is executed.
