Updating External Interface Information

External interface information can be updated at any time. External interface information is stored
in the database in the ‘Apps’ table. The table, accessed through the ‘Views’ pane, enables you to
quickly and easily update a specific piece of information, such as a control point. The pages and
tables in NV9000-SE share databases, so that changes made in one interface populate all corre-
sponding fields in all related interfaces.

NV9000-SE saves all configuration changes to the database. Once changes are saved, there is no
“undo” function; the configuration is permanently altered. To implement configuration changes, the
NV9000 control system must write the configuration and then be restarted. For more information,
see

Implementing Configuration Changes

on page 17.

If currently connected to the system controller and NV9000-SE, configuration changes take effect
immediately. It is recommended that external interfaces be updated off-line. That ensures that all
settings are correct before you go “live”.

Different NV9000-SE interfaces perform specific tasks, as follows:

Changing an External Interface Name

It is important that external interface names are unique and descriptive in order to avoid confusion.
Once changed, the new external interface name populates all instances of that name throughout the
system.

External interface names can be changed using the ‘External Interfaces’ page accessed through the
‘Configuration’ pane or the ‘Apps’ table accessed through the ‘Views’ pane.

Run Priority

Set priority of external application over other applications running.

Log Mode

Select the level of logging to be used for troubleshooting errors.
