13. EC9700 and EC9710 Panels
Adding an EC9700/EC9710 Panel
Destination
Protect/Release
Button
XY, MD
Enables any Destination Protect button to
function. If ‘Enable Destination Protect’ is
unchecked, the Destination Protect button
will not function on the control panel.
Preset Release
Button
XY only
Used to remove locks and protects from
preset devices (in the ‘Preset’ column). If
locks and protects are commonly used, this
button is recommended.
Hold Button
XY, MD
Retains preset information after Take is
pressed. Useful when routing the same
source to many destinations.
Save Preset
Button
XY, MD
When on, this button causes the control
panel to save whatever source is in the
‘Preset’ column, so that if the control panel
is reset, that source reappears. When off, the
presets are not saved.

Clear Preset
Button
XY, MD
Erases entries in the control panel’s ‘Preset’
column, while leaving the control panel in
the same mode. Recommended as a “safety”
button.
Level Map Button XY, MD
Cross-connects levels (typically in the same
physical router). Often used to shuffle audio
channels, for example, to connect AES1/2 to
AES3/4. When an Info button is configured,
you can view current cross-connects. The
‘Level’ mode is cancelled when the next
normal “take' is performed involving the
selected devices.
(The Level Map button becomes enabled
only when there is a valid preset.)
Chop Button
XY only
When supported by the router, the button is a
toggle that enables and disables rapid
switching of the selected destination device
between the current source and the preset
source. Used to test system timing.
Machine Control
Source Master
Button
MD only
The button reverses the direction of data
routing for devices used in data (control)
level takes. For example, if the (controlling)
destination is the master and the (controlled)
source is the slave, pressing Source Master
reverses the roles.
Machine Control
Broadcast Button
MD only
On the data (control) level, assigns one
controlling device (master) to multiple
controlled devices (slaves). Useful in
dubbing and editing applications. Status is
only reported from the first assigned slave.
