11. Control Panels
Creating a “Tree” of Pages
This is a sample of a ‘Page Table’ section:
Figure 11-45. Page Table section on Control Panel page
It represents the following “tree” of pages:
The ‘Links to Page Num(s)’ column lists all pages a specific page links to (e.g., refers to). For
example, in Figure 11-45 page number 5, references page 2. Using this column you can examine
the “tree” of pages. If the ‘Links to Page Num(s)’ field is empty, the page is inaccessible during
operation. (The exception is the default page which is always available after reset. It might become
unavailable in a configuration that has subpages with no
Back
buttons.)
When creating the hierarchy of pages remember that the operator must be able to reach any page in
the hierarchy. To do this:
• Place a
Back
button on each subpage. The
Back
button enables the operator to return to the previ-
ous page.
Or
• Place a button on each page that causes the control panel to display a specific page.
Or
• The operator can also use the
Up
and
Down
buttons on the control panel.
In addition, in most cases the operator will also need a
Take
button and at least one selection button.
A
Clear Preset
button is strongly recommended. (See
