How to Create Button Legends for Hardware Panels
Gently pull the clear plastic cap from the button, insert the label in the cap, and replace the cap. The
caps come off easily. No tools are required. It is recommended that you avoid using any adhesive.
Global Navigation Buttons
A Global Navigation button displays a predetermined set of pages. A “page” is a set of buttons that
appear on the control panel. For example, if there are 36 buttons on the panel, a “page” would be
one set of 36 buttons and their selected functions.
Global Navigation buttons are only available in the NV9640, NV9641 or NV9642 control panels.
Once created, a Global Navigation button can be added to multiple control panels, however the
control panels must be the same control panel type as the Global Navigation button editor. For
example, if a Global Navigation button is created for NV9640 it can only be applied to NV9640
control panels
The NV9640, NV9641 and NV9642 control panels can have more than one page of buttons. Each
page can have different button functions assigned, that in turn display on the control panel. Opera-
tors view different pages of buttons by pressing the

or
Down
buttons on the control panel.
For more information on “pages” and buttons, see
on page 342. For
more information on configuring control panels, see
Creating Global Navigation Buttons
Global Navigation buttons are created using an “editor” which is a configuration page similar to
that used to configure control panels, but with several unique buttons. Using the Global Navigation
button editor, you can select functions for each button on the panel, creating one or multiple pages.
Once created, the Global Navigation button editor appears in the list of control panels (select ‘Con-
figuration’ and then ‘Control Panels’) and the ‘Panel Type’ column appends “Navigation” to the
panel type. Select the editor and either double-click or click ‘Edit Selected Panel’ to open the Glo-
bal Navigation editor and make changes. Global Navigation buttons can only be edited using this
editor.
Applying Global Navigation Buttons
Global Navigation buttons are applied using the control panel configuration pages. When creating a
control panel configuration for an NV9640, NV9641 or NV9642 control panel, select ‘Global Nav-
igate’ in the ‘Button Type’ section. The page(s) created for the Global Navigation button appear in
the ‘Page Table’ section. (See
When selecting a Global Navigation button you are applying a copy to the current control panel
configuration. You are not linking to the actual Global Navigation button editor.
Managing Global Navigation Buttons
Global Navigation buttons can be updated at any time. Once updated, the Global Navigation button
changes are not immediately seen on the associated control panels. First the changes must be saved
