14. External Interfaces

Adding an External Interface

To quickly add several external interfaces, the minimal information needed for each external inter-
face can be entered in the ‘Add External Interface’ wizard and then

Add & Clear

clicked. This adds

the external interface and clears all fields so that another external interface can be added immedi-
ately.

How to Add an External Interface

Use the ‘Add External Interface’ wizard of the ‘External Interfaces’ page.

1 Launch NV9000-SE. (See

Launching and Exiting the Application

on page 12.)

2 From the Navigation area, select the ‘Tasks’ pane and then ‘Add External Interface’.

From the Navigation area, select the ‘Configuration’ pane and then ‘External Interface’. The
‘External Interface’ page displays. On the ‘External Interface’ page, click

Add External Interface

.

The ‘Add External Interface’ page appears:

3 Enter information in the fields provided. Red titles denote required fields:

Field

Description

Name

Enter the name used to describe the external interface. Be sure to use a unique name

that is descriptive. The name is limited to 8 characters. Do not use punctuation
marks or symbols.

Host

From the drop-down list, select the primary host for the external interface. There is

generally only one: NVCONFIG.

Protocol

F

rom the drop-down list, select the Ethernet or serial protocol the router is using to

communicate with NV9000-SE.
