11. Control Panels
Adding a Control Panel
5 If ‘Navigate’ was selected as a button type, define the button properties. Using the ‘Edit Navi-
gation Button’ dialog box, pages that create a “tree” can be selected. You can choose to have the
button jump to a new page or an existing page, creating “child” pages to “parent” pages. See
6 Salvos are assigned to buttons individually. Salvo buttons can be created in two ways:
• Manually using the button definition tools described in Step 4, selecting ‘Salvo’ from the
‘Button Types’ drop-down list.
• Automatically, by creating a navigation button that will automatically assign all salvos to
one or more subpages, as described in Step 5.
7 In the ‘Outputs’ and ‘Inputs’ sections, define the general-purpose I/O (GPIO) connections at the
rear of the control panel as described in

NV9642
The ‘NV9642’ page determines how the NV9642 control panel functions and displays. For a full
description of the control panel and functions, see
The ‘NV9642’ page is divided into sections:
• Button Layout
—
A graphic representation of the buttons and control panel window on the con-
trol panel. The button layout is organized as a “tree” with “parent” pages and “child” pages.
“Parent” pages are one level up from a “child” page; “child” pages are always one level below a
“parent” page. Each of the 34 buttons can execute a function or select an entirely new set of
functions on a lower level (“child” page) in the “tree.” The “tree” is not limited in size.
Click on a button to assign a function to it. Certain buttons have pre-assigned text. Do not
assign new functions to these buttons.
• Button Definitions
—
Assigns a definition to the currently selected button in the ‘Button Lay-
out’ field. The options available as definitions change depending on the options selected in the
‘Panel Options’ section.
• Page Table
—
This section includes a visual representation of the “parent” and “child” pages in
the “tree.” The “tree” is created by selecting ‘Navigate’ in the ‘Button Layout’ section.
• Outputs
—
The general-purpose I/O (GPIO) output connections at the rear of the control panel.
• Inputs
—
The general-purpose I/O (GPIO) input connections at the rear of the control panel.
• Panel Options
—
Define control panel behavior, such as the default operating mode.
The control panel options, button layout and button definitions are configured using the ‘NV942’
page. When saved, the configurations are communicated to the physical control panel and appear to
the operator using the control panel.
