4.41 DIN PLUS Templates

A template is a predefined NC code block that is adapted to your lathe
and is integrated in the NC program. That reduces the programming
effort while helping you to standardize.

The CNC PILOT differentiates between:

„

The starting template for making a new NC program.

„

Structure templates, which support you when programming
complex processes.

The templates are saved in the NCPS directory under the name
DINSTART.BEV or VORLAGEx.BEV (x: 1 to 9).

Starting templates

If a starting template is available, the CNC PILOT loads it when you
make a new NC program.

The starting template should contain program section codes, constant
definitions, speed limitations, zero point shifts, and other instructions
and data that are adapted to your lathe. If no starting template exists,
the CNC PILOT creates a new NC program containing only the
standard program section codes.

To edit the starting template:

U

Log on as System Manager.

U

Select “Prog > Load > Template” in the main menu.

U

Choose DINSTART from the template list.

U

Edit the template using the free editing function and then save.

If there is no starting template on your control, you can make a
template using an external application. Name the template
DINSTART.BEV and copy it to the NCPS directory.

Structure templates

A structure template defines program sequences that are loaded into
the NC program when the template is called. You can influence a
structure template by using transfer parameters. This makes it easier
to program complex lathes.

Structure templates are usually provided by the machine tool builder,
together with a description of their functionality. The CNC PILOT
supports up to 9 structure templates.

To call a structure template:

U

Select “Instr. < Template selection < ..” in the machining menu (“..”
the last level of the template menu depends on the specific lathe).
