„

Compensation values (DX, DY, DZ, DS): Compensation for the
wear of the cutting edge. For recessing and button tools, DS stands
for the compensation value of the third side of the tool (away from
the tool reference point).

„

Cutting length (sl): Length of the cutting edge

„

The contour-based cycles check whether the tool can execute the
required machining operation.

„

“sl” influences the tool selection of TURN PLUS.

„

“sl” is evaluated for the tool graphics and for depicting the cutting
path of the tool.

„

Secondary machining direction (NBR): Defines the directions in
which the tool cuts in addition to the main machining direction.

„

The contour-based cycles check whether the tool can execute the
required machining operation.

„

Influences the tool selection of TURN PLUS.

„

For NBR, the AWG uses the auxiliary feed rate (see “Technology
Database” on page 641) and a
reduced cutting depth (see
machining parameter 4 – “SRF”)

„

Direction of rotation:

„

Defines the direction of spindle rotation for the tool.

„

Defines whether a driven tool is used.

„

The contour-based cycles check whether the tool can execute the
required machining operation.

„

Influences the tool selection of TURN PLUS.

„

Defines the direction of spindle rotation in the AWG.

„

Width (dn): Tool width from tool tip to shank back. “dn” is used for
the tool graphics.

„

(Physically) Available: Identifies an unavailable tool without deleting
the database entry.

„

Design as “left-hand or right-hand tool” – defines the position of the
tool reference point. For neutral tools, the tool reference point is
located on the left side.

„

Picture number: Display the tool or only the cutting edge?

„

0: Display the tool

„

–1: Display only the cutting edge of the tool

„

TURN PLUS multiplies the following compensation values by the
cutting values calculated from the technology database:

„

CSP compensation: Cutting speed

„

FDR compensation: Feed rate

„

Depth compensation: Cutting depth
